At MECA you'll be an important part of a community of supportive artists and designers who challenge you to shape and own your vision. Learning happens everywhere. In the studio, on fieldtrips to NYC or Boston, to professional studios in Portland, and area print shops. We get into the Portland community with events and collaborations at local galleries, businesses and the Maine coastal environment. Visiting artists – whether leaders in the field or energetic young guns on the cusp of stardom – come for 3 or 4 day workshop marathons. Internships in area studios complement course work. MECA designers work in the Media Collective studios 24/7 next to photographers, new media artists and illustrators, inspiring collaboration and cross-pollination of media and ideas.
